3 Ways That Humans Can Affect The Great Barrier Reef
3 ways that humans can affect the Great Barrier Reef are:
1. Drilling for oil and spilling it: This is a cause and effect situation. The cause is drilling for oil and the effect is spilling. When people oil it makes money for people however puts the environment at risk.
2. Building a harbour: Recently people have wanted to build a harbour on the Great Barrier Reef for shipping coal to China however, this will cause great destruction for the environment. Boats will be travelling up and down and there will be multiple crashes which will destroy the reef.
3. Global warming: Global warming is heating up the water and will kill the coral. This will destroy the reef as the coral plays a major part the ecosystem. If we keep using fossil fuels and contributing to greenhouse gasses the reef will be destroyed!

The Important Organism
The most important organism is Coral. Coral is the base of the food web in the Great Barrier Reef. It supports many food chains and is the food for many animals. If it became extinct many animals will become endangered and many food chains will collapse. Also if Coral became extinct our beaches wouldn't be so sandy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
